Art Deco Violin Recital with José Dias
29 March 2022
March was a whirlwind of musical activity. The undoubted highlight of this month was performing the Art Deco Recital in Cape Town, the Cape Winelands, the Garden Route, and my home turf, Gqeberha.
The recital was inspired by the design, architecture and zeitgeist of the Art Deco movement. All of the repertoire that we chose to perform linked to this unique period in a significant way.
I am looking forward to repeat performances of this programme in the second half of the year.

Historic performance at UNESCO World Heritage site
15 January 2022
In December 2021, my year ended with a musical adventure. Accompanied by three friends, pianist Stefan Lombard, cellist Dorette Roos, alongside oud and Arabian fiddle player Islam Jaram, we performed two sold out Candelit Classics shows at the Winter at Tantora Festival in Saudi Arabia.
We performed on 24 and 31 December at in front of Tomb 100 at Hegra, surrounded by more than 400 candles that danced to the music. The programme included music by Mozart, Pärt, Morricone, Lady Gaga, Delibes, Rimsky-Kosrakov, as well as traditional Arabian music.
This concert tour was definitely a highlight of my career. Not only was it a rare opportunity to travel and experience a different culture during these uncertain times, but it challenged me to rethink my playing and my approach to music making.

People of Note interview with Rodney Trudgen
15 January 2022
I had the pleasure of chatting with Rodney Trudgen from Fine Music Radio in January 2020. We discussed some of my favourite music, which include some of Korngold's inspired chamber music, a Vivaldi aria, Britten's violin concerto, and some gems by Piazzolla and Jacob Collier
